The Commonwealth of Lorc’h has called its first general election since the introduction of its new Constitution, with citizens set to elect the first Davarage.
Candidate registrations opened on October 1 and will continue until October 6, before Lorchese citizens head to the polls on October 8 and 9.
A new Lorc’h
The election follows major changes to Lorc’h’s system of government under its new Constitution, which established the country as a self-governing nation in free association with the Kingdom of Vistaria.
The Constitution places sovereignty with the Lorchese people and establishes the Davarage as the country’s elected legislature.
Temporary members of the Davarage were appointed when the Constitution came into effect, alongside Arōnis nan Rūvas as the country’s first Prime Minister. Their transitional terms last only until the first election is called. That election has now arrived.
Lorc’h goes to the polls
Any eligible Lorchese citizen can register to stand, with the Kora responsible for administering the election. Registration must remain open for at least five days before a final list of candidates is published.
Voting will be private and take place over two days, with each eligible citizen able to vote for one candidate.
The election will use First Past the Post, with the candidates receiving the most votes elected to the available seats. The result will establish Lorc’h’s first elected Davarage and bring the Commonwealth’s transitional government to an end.
