The Kingdom of Vistaria has issued its first sanctions against nations and organisations, placing restrictions on Mabruenia-Nicaea and the Kingdom of Pontunia.
Both were added to Vistaria’s sanctions list on October 13, marking the first use of sanctions by the Kingdom. Mabruenia-Nicaea is listed as a group, while Pontunia is listed as a nation. No end date or formal reason has been published for either sanction.
The Royal Council declined to give further comment on Mabruenia-Nicaea, instead pointing to a statement issued by the Kora’s Hokorian office last month which urged micronations to be cautious about giving attention to individuals facing serious allegations, particularly where concerns involve minors or other vulnerable people.
“We cannot control who others choose to associate with, but we can choose what we give our own attention to,” Willow said in the September statement.
Pontunia sanctioned
The Royal Council gave more detail on its decision regarding Pontunia, saying the sanctions relate to the newer “isolationist and ideologically-aligned” state which Andrew Perdomo has claimed to be building, rather than the former Kingdom of Pontchartrain-Maurepas under its later leadership.
Pontunia has previously faced restrictions from Hokoria following Operation Mandela, an intelligence and political influence operation detailed in Curnon’s partially declassified Operation Pretzel report. The report alleged that Pontunian figures attempted to interfere in Curnish politics, influence elections and restore Perdomo’s influence in the country during November and December 2025.
The operation was also alleged to have included attempts to infiltrate Curnon and other nations, gather information through an informant and target political figures and parties. Perdomo ultimately rejected more extreme proposals to overthrow Curnon’s government and ended Operation Mandela on December 7.
Hokoria restricted Pontunia the following day and continues to list it alongside the Mabruenian-Nicene Commonwealth and Quackers Kingdom. The new Vistarian sanctions do not automatically reproduce Hokoria’s existing restrictions, with the now dissolved Quackers Kingdom not appearing on Vistaria’s list.
The sanctions against Mabruenia-Nicaea and Pontunia therefore represent Vistaria’s first independent use of the measure since the Kingdom was established.
